Level 5 water restrictions are due to start on 1 November in the Western Cape. If you still don’t realise to seriousness of the water crisis you need to catch a wake up!

Here are some tips that to help you save water without costing you anything!

Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth.

This can save you 6 liters of water per minute!

Always use full loads in your washing machine and dishwasher

This maximizes the amount of clothing/dishes per litre of water used and cuts out unnecessary washes in between.

Fix a dripping tap

A dripping tap can waste 15 litres of water a day, or 5,500 litres of water a year!

Fill a jug or bottle with tap water and place this in your fridge

This will mean you do not have to leave the cold tap running for the water to run cold before you fill your glass.

Don’t let the gutter water run away

Let rainwater run into your garden with a few simple modifications.

Stop using the Toilet as a Garbage Can!

Do Not Do This! Throw out everything in a garbage can, even if it is tempting to just throw it in the toilet. Tissues, Hair, and Bugs are things that people generally throw away in the toilet, but they will be disposed if thrown away in the garbage can as well.

Fill a coke bottle with water and put it in your toilet’s cistern

Each flush will save up to 2 liters of water!

Place buckets in your shower.

You can catch some water whilst you wait for it to warm up.
