Spaghetti Bolognese is probably the most famous pasta dish in the world. Bolognese sauce, known in Italian as ragù (alla) bolognese, or simply ragù, is a meat-based sauce originating from Bologna, Italy

This simple yet tasty dish is always a winner!


500g Lean beef mince

100g smoked bacon (finely chopped or minced)

1 Onion (finely chopped)

1 stick of celery (finely chopped)

1 Carrot (finely grated)

1 Clove of garlic (finely chopped)

1 Sprig of Rosemary

1 Sprig of thyme

1 Spriq of oregano

1 Cup of my basic tomato sauce

1 Packet of Tomato puree (about 2 tablespoons)

1 Teaspoon sugar

1 Cup beef stock

100ml Red wine

25ml Olive oil

Salt & Pepper to taste


In a large pot add oil, onion, celery, carrot and herbs and cook until the onions start to become translucent. Add bacon and mince, brown the meat.

Deglaze with red wine and add beef stock. Cook for about 20 mins on a low heat and add tomato sauce, puree and garlic

Serve warm with pasta or on bread
